The short version: we provide the polling tool, other people run the polls, and a poll here is an opinion count — not a binding decision.
PlaidPoll is a tool. The polls you find on it are created, worded, opened and closed by independent organizers — clubs, leagues, associations and other groups — who are responsible for their own polls. We do not write their questions, choose their options, or decide their outcomes, and a poll appearing here is not an endorsement of it by us.
We guarantee exactly one thing, and we claim nothing beyond it: every counted vote was confirmed by a working phone number, and each number counts once per poll. Any voter can look up their own registration number on the public results and check that their choices were recorded correctly.
That is a strong guarantee, but it is not a perfect one, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Somebody determined to obtain many phone numbers could still cast many votes. Treat a poll here as a well-verified opinion count — good enough to settle a club vote or pick an award winner, and not built to decide anything of legal or public consequence.
If you have ever replied STOP to a text from us — even years ago, about something else entirely — we will not text you again, including verification codes. That is deliberate, and it means you cannot vote until you undo it.
To undo it: text START to the number our messages come from. That re-enables text messages to your phone, and you can vote straight away. Only you can do this, from your own phone. Nobody at PlaidPoll, and no poll organizer, can add you to that list or take you off it.
Do not attempt to vote more than once, use numbers that are not yours, disrupt a poll, or use this service to harass anyone. We will block abuse, and we cap how many codes any one number can be sent so that this site cannot be turned into a tool for pestering somebody's phone.
PlaidPoll is in beta. We may change or pause it, and while we work hard to keep it up, we do not promise it will always be available. Please do not rely on it for anything you cannot afford to have go wrong.
If a poll on this site looks fraudulent, abusive, or misrepresents who is running it, tell us at hello@plaidpoll.com and we will look into it. If you think your own vote was recorded incorrectly, contact the organizer running that poll first — and tell us if you do not get anywhere.
How we handle personal information is set out in the privacy notice, which forms part of these terms.
